Contact Crown Car Repair
Open 08:00 to 17:00 seven days a week. Ring us with your registration and the symptom, and we'll tell you what it's likely to be before you bring it in.
Ring us, or send the form below
The quickest way to get an answer is to ring. Most questions — what a noise probably is, roughly what a job costs, whether you can drive it — get answered on the phone in a couple of minutes, and you will speak to somebody who works on cars rather than a call centre.
If it is easier to write it down, use the form at the bottom of this page and we will come back to you.
What people most often ring about
If you already know roughly what you need, the page for it will usually answer the cost and timing questions before you pick up the phone. The common ones are MOT testing, car servicing, brake repair and engine diagnostics for a warning light nobody has been able to explain. There is also a full list of what we do and a map of the areas we cover.
What to have ready
Three things make the conversation much more useful:
- Your registration. It tells us the engine, the specification and the service requirements, so we can give you a real figure rather than a range.
- What it is actually doing. When does it happen — cold, hot, braking, turning, at idle? Does a light come on? Has anything changed recently?
- Roughly what mileage it is on, and when it was last serviced, if you know.
You do not need to diagnose it. Describing the symptom in plain words is genuinely more useful than a guess at the cause.
Open seven days a week
We are open 08:00 to 17:00 every day, Saturday and Sunday included. That is unusual for a Birmingham garage — most close at lunchtime on Saturday and not at all on Sunday — and it means you do not have to lose a day’s work to get a car looked at.
Weekend slots are the first to fill, so if you need a Saturday or Sunday it is worth ringing ahead rather than turning up.
Finding us, and the Clean Air Zone
We are in Birmingham city centre, just off the inner ring road, which puts us inside the Clean Air Zone.
For most people that changes nothing. The daily charge applies only to non-compliant vehicles — broadly petrol cars older than Euro 4 and diesels older than Euro 6 — which pay a daily charge. Newer cars pay nothing at all. If you are unsure, Birmingham City Council’s online vehicle checker gives you an answer in seconds from the registration, and it is worth doing before you set off rather than finding out afterwards.
If your car is non-compliant and the charge is a problem, ring us before you travel and we will talk through the options.
What happens after you get in touch
We will tell you what we think it is likely to be and what it would cost to look at properly. If it needs booking in, we will give you a slot. If it sounds like something you should not be driving, we will say so plainly rather than book you in for next week.
Nothing gets done to your car without a price agreed first.
Send us an enquiry
Tell us what the car is doing and we’ll come back to you. If it’s urgent, ring us instead — you’ll get an answer faster.
